Regulations for Graduate Studies

I. Basis of Establishment

These Regulations are established in accordance with the University Academic Regulations, the Regulations for Master’s and Doctoral Degree Examinations, and the Degree Conferral Act and its Enforcement Rules.


II. Admission

  1. Entrance Examination and Related Regulations
    Admission examinations and related requirements shall be conducted in accordance with the admission brochure issued for the relevant academic year.
  2. Direct Admission to the Doctoral Program
    Applicants admitted directly to the doctoral program without first obtaining a master’s degree shall comply with the University’s Regulations for Direct Admission to the Doctoral Program.

III. Registration of New Students

  1. Registration Procedures
    Newly admitted students shall complete enrollment and registration procedures in accordance with the admission brochure for the relevant academic year, the University’s enrollment and registration notices, and other applicable regulations.
  2. Registration Deadline
    Admitted students shall complete registration within the prescribed period. Failure to complete registration within the specified period, without prior approved leave, shall result in cancellation of admission eligibility.
  3. Verification of Submitted Documents
    If any submitted documents are found to be false or fraudulent, the student’s admission shall be revoked immediately upon verification.

IV. Courses

  1. Required Courses
    The required courses for all students of this Institute shall include:
    Experimental Techniques in Oral Medicine and Advanced Seminar in Oral Biology.
  2. Elective Courses
    The selection of elective courses shall be based on the course schedule announced by the Office of Academic Affairs for the relevant semester.
  3. Course Registration and Add/Drop Procedures
    Course registration and add/drop procedures shall be conducted in accordance with the University Academic Regulations and other applicable provisions.

V. Duration of Study and Credit Requirements

  1. Duration of Study
    The duration of study for the doctoral program shall be no fewer than three years and no more than seven years.
  2. Minimum Credit Requirements
    Doctoral students shall complete no fewer than 18 credits.
    Students admitted directly to the doctoral program shall complete no fewer than 30 credits (including credits earned during the master’s program), which shall include the required courses prescribed by this Institute.
  3. Exclusion of Dissertation Credits
    The credits specified above shall not include dissertation credits.
  4. Enrollment in Dissertation Course
    Students shall enroll in the course "Doctoral Dissertation" during the semester in which they graduate.
  5. Summer Course Requirements
    For summer courses, students shall achieve academic performance ranking within the top 50 percent of enrolled students.
    For courses offered during regular semesters, grading requirements shall comply with University regulations.
  6. Approval of Elective Courses Outside the Institute
    Elective courses offered outside this Institute shall require prior approval from the student’s dissertation advisor.
  7. Credit Transfer
    Graduate students who have completed credits in advance in accordance with applicable regulations and are subsequently admitted to this Institute, readmitted, or newly admitted after reapplication may apply for credit transfer for credits earned within five years prior to the year of admission. Such credit transfer shall be subject to approval by the Director of the Institute.

The total number of transferable credits shall not exceed one-third of the total graduation credits required by this Institute.

 

VI. Qualifying Examination

  1. Eligibility for the Qualifying Examination
    Doctoral students shall complete the required coursework and obtain approval from their dissertation advisor before applying to take the qualifying examination.
  2. Administration of the Qualifying Examination
    The qualifying examination shall be administered in accordance with the regulations established by this Institute.
  3. Examination Attempts
    Students who fail the qualifying examination may apply to retake the examination in accordance with the Institute’s regulations.
    The number of permitted examination attempts shall comply with the relevant University regulations.
  4. Failure to Pass the Qualifying Examination
    Students who fail to pass the qualifying examination within the prescribed period shall be subject to dismissal in accordance with University regulations.

VII. Dissertation Proposal and Progress Evaluation

  1. Dissertation Proposal Submission
    After passing the qualifying examination, doctoral students shall submit a dissertation proposal within the time period specified by this Institute.
  2. Proposal Review
    The dissertation proposal shall be reviewed by a committee formed in accordance with the Institute’s regulations.
  3. Progress Evaluation
    Doctoral students shall undergo periodic progress evaluations to assess the status of their dissertation research.
  4. Failure to Meet Progress Requirements
    Students who fail to meet the required progress standards may be subject to corrective measures or other actions in accordance with the Institute’s regulations.
